Recently, the topic of "side hustles" came up on the Toucher & Hardy Morning Show when it was made aware to them that one of the Producers of the show, Dan O'Brien, has a beach wagon rental business in addition to working on the Toucher & Hardy Morning Show.
Dan revealed that he makes custom beach wagons and rents them out to beachgoers in the York, Maine area where he spends a lot of time in the Summer.
Fred, Hardy & Wallach were amused at the idea of it and even had both of our Summer Interns write and produce parody commercials for Dan's business.
But, what was overlooked in this conversation is the fact that both Hardy AND Wallach both have side hustles in addition to their jobs on the Morning Show!
By definition, a "side hustle" is an additional job someone takes to supplement their primary source of income.
Some do it to help pay the bills, while others look upon it as a hobby or a chance to experience or learn something new.
Our own Jon Wallach has been the play-by-play voice of Bryant University Men's Basketball for many years, traveling up and down I-95 from Boston to Smithfield, Rhode Island and beyond, calling Bulldogs Basketball games.
Jon also has had the opportunity to do play-by-play for the Boston Celtics Radio Network on many occasions over the last number of years, fulfilling a life-long dream of his.
Now, Hardy on the other hand, might be considered the "king of the side hustle!"
No one knows exactly how many side hustles Hardy currently has or has had in the past, but let's just say it's alot!
From Satellite Radio DJ 6 Days A Week to Patriots Game Day Podcast Host to New England Revolution Soccer Sideline Host, Hardy has, and still does, pretty much do it all!
And let's not forget his Afternoon Drive Job at Rock 92.9!
So, as Fred has said many times to our Interns and the listeners out there who want to work in the radio business, it's a great job to have as long as you have a side hustle to pay the bills!
