Marc Bertrand: Bill Belichick ruined Mac Jones’ career
After what Mac Jones has endured the last two seasons, Marc Bertrand believes it’s clear that Bill Belichick has ruined the former Alabama quarterback’s career.
Mac Jones knows it…
Marc Bertrand: Bill Belichick ruined Mac Jones’s career and Mac Jones knows it and it’s why there’s such a lack of trust there. And there’s plenty of reason to never give Bill Belichick another first round quarterback. We’re not going to do that again.
Scott Zolak: See, when you lose, you sort of have this division, coach versus quarterback. Even when (Tom) Brady with his success at the end, you know there was there was the break. Yeah, we’re not coming back here. I’m. I’m trying to get out of here. There’s always that break, and we could be witnessing it right now because Mac Jones does have his camp. He does have his people. His people talk. I mean, there’s been stuff that’s been shots that have been fired back and forth over the three years.
Do they even speak during the week, you know? Bill says, yeah I have a great relationship with him. You know, he works hard. I appreciate his work ethic. How much do they talk per day? Do you meet with him? Like Brady used to meet with him on what, Monday and Tuesday nights. Go in his office, let’s go over the game plan. What do you like? What don’t you like? Well, just start there before we even formulate the damn game plan. I don’t know, I’m not in there. I don’t know what the relationship is like.
You you talk to ex-players that have played here and played with him and yeah, I mean he’s not Tom. That’s the first thing that is noticed. No one’s ever going to be Tom. No is ever going to have Tom’s maniacal approach being in a 5:30 and getting the results and being the motivator that Tom was. Maybe that’s the biggest thing, is he’s just sort of another one of the soldiers that gets in there, you know, does his thing. What’s he do above and beyond?
We talked about it this year where he was calling guys out. What was that three weeks ago? It’s more than just two guys coming in and watching film. We need more. So was that leadership? I mean, he got criticized for that, calling out players. I don’t think that’s calling out a player, I think that’s saying like we don’t work hard enough, we’re not ready. Something’s not clicking and we’re still here five weeks after that and it’s still not clicking. And maybe it does start with him. I don’t know. But I always would look up to the quarterback. I was a quarterback. I mean, you have to be the leader. He is a team captain.
Marc Bertrand: I’m out altogether. I’m out on bringing Bill back. It’s time to start over. It’s time to start anew. And I would never consider handing this guy another young quarterback, especially a first rounder or a potential top five pick. No way. You will have had to have lost your marbles If you are going to let Bill Belichick do this again with a young quarterback. No shot. No thank you.
