Belichick: Patriots signing kicker Quinn Nordin to practice squad
Rookie kicker Quinn Nordin‘s name has been all over the transaction wire this week. The UDFA out of Michigan was designated to return from IR on Monday, then waived on Wednesday. He cleared waivers on Thursday, and now is expected to show up as a practice squad signing when the latest wire comes out Friday afternoon.
Speaking with reporters Friday morning, Bill Belichick confirmed the team is singing Nordin to the practice squad now that he’s cleared waivers. Nordin was then present at practice Friday afternoon.
Nordin was one of the biggest stories of training camp, pushing Nick Folk for the starting job. He ended up making the roster over Folk, who landed on the practice squad. However, Folk was promoted for Week 1 while Nordin was inactive, then Nordin was placed on IR with an abdominal injury the following week.
With Nordin signed, the Patriots now have 15 players on their practice squad. That leaves them with one open spot.
