Scott Zolak: I’m not giving up on Jonnu Smith

On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Scott Zolak made it clear he’s not giving up on Jonnu Smith.

  • Let Bill O'Brien get his hands on Jonnu Smith

    Scott Zolak: What’s intriguing to me with Billy (O’Brien) is like, ooooh. I watch 81 workout, Jonnu Smith. He’d say, man, there is something there. I’m with you. I’m not done with this guy. There’s a lot people like I’m done, trade him or cut him. But you can’t, the dead money is high on him. You could go after the June 2nd deadline and say, save some money. I think 10 million if that. But I’m not cutting him because I think he’s one of your most explosive players on offense. It doesn’t sound right, but…

    Marc Bertrand: I also don’t think you can cut him without a big hit now because he redid his deal. I think he’s a lock to be here. He’s not going anywhere.

    Scott Zolak: I think it’s up to Billy to unlock him like that. Like, I think,  if I could get him on the move, less blocking. See he ended up staying in to block a lot. And I think Jonnu Smith got the most misused out of any of the guys that they brought in here. Including (Nelson) Agholor, including (Kendrick) Bourne. Everybody want to see Bourne more last year. There has been spots where whether on a tight end screen or something, he catches it and boom he’s right up that seam. And why can’t you do more what you did against Cleveland?
