What is each state’s favorite Halloween candy? Well, we are approaching Halloween and people have already purchased their Halloween candy. Yup, those over achievers are already bragging to their friends and coworkers that they’re all set with candy. Therefore, this list was created by www.candystore.com and yes there is candy corn on some state’s favorite list. Let’s first talk about what type of candy the country loves. According to this survey: 28 states prefer chocolate candies while 22 prefer gummies, fruit-flavored candies, and other non-chocolate candies. Other candy fun facts, The average American eats 8 pounds of candy per year. As of 2022, the U.S. candy production market is worth $12.1 billion. And as far as the most popular candy generally speaking: the Kit Kat, with 6 states claiming it as their favorite.

This list is actually a bit different than Zippia’s from last year which had determined that Candy Corn is loved best in West Virginia. Last year’s favorite candy, Starburst, was dethroned by Kit Kats and Twix bars. Oklahoma needs to just fall off the map seeing as how they have Circus Peanuts as their favorite candy. Who likes Circus Peanuts? It’s a mystery. Other random choices: Tennessee loves Runts while Colorado loves black licorice. Zippia used google trends to come up with their list. Through the trends, they determined which candies are the most searched for candies in each state which is a great gauge for each state’s favorite. To be fair, gum is excluded from the list as gum is NOT candy. They also left off any type of food that would get your house egged like raisins, fruit snacks, floss or tooth paste.

After learning which candy is the favorite in your state, you can shop with ease. Make sure you choose wisely. You don’t want to become the unpopular house this Halloween. Happy shopping!
