Wide receiver, safety highlight list of prospects at Patriots local pro day
With it being the ‘top-30 visit’ portion of the NFL pre-draft process, many of the top draft prospects find themselves traveling all over the country to meet with the NFL teams who will decide whether or not to select them in just three weeks. However, some players end up staying closer to home for pre-draft meetings – including what is known as a local pro day.
While teams are generally limited to how many players they can host for pre-draft visits (hence the ’30’ in top-30), there are exceptions made for local prospects. In addition to those official top-30 visits, teams are also allowed to host players who either are from or attended school within a certain distance of their facility for a local pro day.

The New England Patriots held their local pro day on Thursday. It’s set up just like a regular pro day or the NFL Combine with testing, on field workouts, and meetings.
Most of the time top prospects don’t attend local pro days as they’re busy traveling and meeting with teams – these are more for fringe draft prospects trying to get on an NFL team’s radar. While the attendance at these events is never officially announced, usually a handful of names end up being confirmed. New England Football Journal published the most comprehensive list, with 17 players in attendance…
— EDGE Brian Abraham, Albany
— WR Anthony Frederick, Bryant
— EDGE Kenny Dyson, Bryant
— LB Daniel Abraham, Villanova
— LB Joe Andreessen, Buffalo (Bryant)
— WR Jalen Coker Holy Cross
— S Jordan Colbert, Rhode Island
— G Nick Correia, Rhode Island
— LB Bryce Gallagher, Northwestern
— QB Kasim Hill, Rhode Island
— CB Randall Harris, UNH
— G Kyle Hergel, Boston College
— DB Jason Maitre, Wisconsin (BC)
— S Jarrett Martin, Rhode Island
— CB Darion McKenzie, Merrimack
— DE Quinn Sweeney, Springfield
— G David Satkowski, Stonehill
Of this group, Holy Cross wide receiver Jalen Coker is the top player and the only one who took part in the NFL Combine. At 6-foot-1, 208 pounds he’s a contested catch receiver who will be at his best in the red zone in the NFL. Last year he caught 59 passes for 1,040 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Crusaders. He’s expected to go later on Day 3. Coker’s physical makeup is in line with the kind of receiver typically targeted by Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf.
There are a few other players here who are expected to be in camp with an NFL team, either as late Day 3 picks or priority UDFAs. That group includes Wisconsin defensive back (and Boston College transfer) Jason Maitre, BC offensive lineman Kyle Hergel, and Northwestern linebacker Bryce Gallagher (a Raynham, Mass. native).

2024 Patriots pre-draft meeting tracker
Throughout the pre-draft process, NFL teams meet with prospects sometimes on multiple occasions. These meets can occur at showcase games like the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl, the NFL Combine, can be organized officially (top-30 visits), or be arranged in a number of other ways.
While these meetings aren’t always a perfect indication of who a team will draft, they often provide a general guide of the kinds of players a team is considering drafting. Tracking meetings can also come to fruition later on when a draft class hits free agency.
Last year the Patriots only had an official pre-draft meeting with one of their draft picks (Christian Gonzalez) and signed another as a UDFA (Malik Cunningham). In 2022 they met with two draft picks (Jack Jones and Marcus Jones) and another UDFA (D’Eriq King). Make of that what you will – the more pessimistic fans can use meetings as a guide to players the Patriots won’t be drafting.
Who have the Patriots met with in 2024? Here’s a running list. Be sure to check back throughout the offseason as the list is updated.
This list doesn’t include the players who were at the Patriots’ local pro day. That group can be found here.
