Super Wild Card Weekend Picks & Podcast
The NFL playoffs begin on Saturday with two games in the AFC. Then there is a scheduled triple header on Sunday which has now turned into a double header on Monday to finish off super wild card weekend. With the major snow storm in Buffalo, the league has moved the game to 4:30 on Monday afternoon.
The league couldn’t have scripted the wild card rounded any better. With so many storylines and entertaining games, it truly should be a wild card of a weekend. Cleveland will take on the Houston Texans on the road with Joe Flacco under center. Flacco has not started a playoff game since 2015 and took over the the injured Deshaun Watson. The storyline here is Watson who was traded away from Houston two seasons ago is back in the playoffs with rookie quarterback CJ Stroud.
The defending super bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will welcome the Miami Dolphins to cold arrowhead stadium Saturday night. It marks the return of Tyreke Hill against his former team. It is also Tua Tagovailoa’s first playoff game.
Sunday’s matchup between the Packers and Cowboys features Mike McCarthy coaching against the team he won a super bowl with.Green Bay sneaked into the playoffs after winning some impressive games on the road in the NFC North. The pressure is on Dallas who are 8-0 at home this season. An early playoff exit could put McCarthy on the hot seat.
Then there is the Goff bowl or should we call it the Stafford bowl? Either way, this was the trade that helped each franchise. The Rams a season removed from winning the super bowl go on the road to face Goff and the much improved Lions. I’m intrigues to see McVay vs Campbell.
Monday’s double header kicks off at 4:30 in Buffalo. The running game for the Steelers has been solid and Mason Rudolph will go up against a Bills team that is the hottest in the league.
The night cap features the Eagles traveling to Tampa Bay without AJ Brown. Also, the status of Jalen Hurts with his injured finger will be a storyline. The Bucs led by Baker Mayfield are looking for the upset.
