With the
Patriots finally making the move away from Mac Jones, it is time to look ahead at who the next Patriots quarterback will be. The team could look for a veteran or make a trade for one. But the most realistic path will be through the draft. This is projected to be a quality class this season but there are still some question marks when drafting at the top of it. Looking at Jones’ draft class, he along with Trey Lance have not lived up to the expectations. One thing about both players was that they only played at one school in college. Lance started only 17 games at
North Dakota state and was drafted in the top 5. Jones played 30 games in 3 seasons at Alabama but only started 17 games. The new trend in college football is quarterbacks entering the transfer portal and playing at multiple schools. Since 2013, there have been 6 QB’s who have played at multiple schools who went on to play in a Super Bowl.

Is the new trend multiple schools at QB? The 2023 QB class started with Bryce Young and CJ Stroud who played at only
Alabama and
Ohio State.
Anthony Richardson only played at Florida but had 13 career starts in 24 games played. The Titans drafted Will Levis who started his career at Penn State and finished at Kentucky. The Lions drafted
Hendon Hooker in the second round who was having a Heisman season until an injury ended his college career at Tennessee that started at Virgina Tech.
