Massachusetts City Makes Orkin’s Top Mosquito Cities of 2023 List
This is one list we sure don’t want to be tops on. Every year Orkin, American pest company since 1964, releases it’s super fun summer list of the Top Mosquito Cities in the country. (There may have been slight sarcasm dripping from that last sentence.) The list, as the name suggests, ranks the 50 cities where mosquitos are the worst based on how bad their mosquito problems are. This year, Boston comes in at #33 on their Top 50. Last year Boston was a slot lower, coming in at #34. So what you’re saying is things are getting worse??
If you’re worried about mosquitos ruining your upcoming party, just invite me. Those skeeters will spend the whole evening on my ankles and your party guests will go home bite-free. I’m a freaking mosquito magnet!
As for the top of the tops: Los Angeles was names the Top Mosquito City for a second year in a row according to Orkin. Chicago and New York rounded out the Top 3. LA, Chicago, and New York taking the Top 3? I guess Boston should be pretty good with coming in at #33 after all.
Well, if the mosquitos don’t get you here in Massachusetts apparently the seagulls will!!
You know how annoying it is when you’re trying to go to sleep and there’s a mosquito in your room just hanging out buzzing around right outside your ear canal?? That leads us to Massachusetts next problem:
According to a new study by the “sleep experts” at Amerisleep, an online mattress store, Massachusetts is one of the most sleep-deprived states in the country! How bad do we rank? See below where I’ll give you the sleep-deprivation rankings of all 6 New England states.
Amerisleep got their data by examining 96 sleep-related search terms to determine the average monthly search volume per 100,000 residents in each state. The higher the search volume, the worse the sleep-deprivation, the higher up the list they go.
