Thanks To Aerosmith, Black Crowes To Play Boston For 1st Time Since 2014

Yesterday, Aerosmith announced their “Peace Out” farewell tour. The 40-date run of shows starts on September 2nd in Philadelphia. The Black Crowes are opening, and this tour will mark the first time that they play Boston for the first time properly since 2014.

The Black Crowes reunited two years ago to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut record, Shake Your Money Maker. Ultimately, the tour was postponed a year due to the pandemic shutting down concerts.

Over the past 20 years, The Black Crowes have had two different hiatuses. Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson did not disappear from music, however. They embarked on different solo missions, and both brothers toured often.

Eventually, in early 2020 the brothers teased some Black Crowes music by reuniting for an acoustic tour. It was billed as “Brothers of a Feather.” On this run, Chris and Rich Robinson played at Brighton Music Hall in Allston on February 19th of 2020.

MA But Technically Not “Boston”

When the “Shake Your Money Maker” tour finally kicked off, its local stop was at the Xfinity Center in suburban Mansfield, MA, about 35 miles south of Boston. Last summer, The Black Crowes played the Koussevitzky Music Shed, in Lenox, out in the Berkshires.

New Year’s Eve

Of the massive, five-month Aerosmith farewell tour agenda, there’s one date that really stands out. December 31, 2023. The band will play the TD Garden. Their hometown arena on New Year’s Eve. For The Black Crowes, this night represents an official return to the Beantown city stage. Their previous full-band show here was on February 8, 2014 at the House of Blues. That’s about five weeks shy of a ten-year gap.
