Adrian Phillips on Zolak & Bertrand: ‘You just see more confidence’ in Mac Jones
Zolak & Bertrand were joined by New England Patriots safety Adrian Phillips on Thursday, and he gave some insight into the growth he’s seen from Mac Jones so far in training camp.
Scott Zolak: All right, you been with Mac (Jones) now for two years, this is year number two. Obviously, he had to compete with Cam last year to win the job in camp. What do you see differently in Mac this year as you guys finished up OTAs and mini camps now as you start regular camp?
Adrian Phillips: Yeah, you just see more confidence, like he’s just growing each and every year. The same thing that you see from a lot of players being in the same system and being able to get another opportunity to to go out there and play for another year. He’s doing great. It’s been fun to play against them.
But at the same time, I don’t know the ins and outs because that’s the offensive side of the football. But I just know that every practice is a fine practice for him because you know that he’s going to talk his stuff, he’s going to sell out and he’s gonna try to whoop you every single play and that’s fun.
Scott Zolak: So he does talk smack then, like he talks a lot. You can see it.
Adrian Phillips: Yeah, you can see it out there, but everybody’s talking smack. You know? You’re not talking smack out there then, I don’t know if you’re bringing your best in practice because sometimes you got to find a way to get that competitive edge.
