Woj: Gordon Hayward signing with Charlotte Hornets
By Alex Barth, 985TheSportsHub.com
It would appear the Gordon Hayward era in Boston is over.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Hayward is signing a four-year, $120 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets. Hayward became a free agent on Thursday after he declined his one-year, $35 million player option with the Celtics.
This move comes as a bit of a surprise following reports Friday night that the Celtics and Indiana Pacers seemed to be in the final stages of a sign-and-trade that would send Hayward home to Indiana in exchange for a package highlighted by Myles Turner.
Multiple reports have indicated that Hayward’s deal with Charlotte can only work as a sign-and-trade. No details on the Celtics return have been made available yet, and we will update this story as new news emerges…
