Marc Bertrand: Jayson Tatum has the most to gain from the Celtics winning it all
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc Bertrand explained why Jayson Tatum has the most to gain from the Celtics winning it all.
Who gets the criticism when things go wrong?
Marc Bertrand:
Jayson Tatum had the most to gain with them winning a title. He did because he’s the face of the team. He’s one of the faces of the league and the knock was never on Jaylen Brown. We say it took them seven years together and they got over the hump over the hump. Who are you really talking about when you’re talking about getting over the hump? You’re talking about Tatum. You’re not talking about Brown. We’ve talked about this with Brown, when Brown’s great he gets all this credit, when Brown sucks, everyone says, well he’s Brown. He’s not Tatum. Tatum has an off night, he gets crushed. So, the whole getting over the hump conversation is really about Jayson Tatum and less about Jaylen Brown. That’s why last night when Jayson Tatum came to the podium and said, you know, I’ve had to listen all the bleep that people have said about me, he had the most to gain with the win. You talk about guys getting stamped. That’s the guy who got stamped last. Winner. I came in today and looked at Tim McKone and I said Tim McKone, what did I say? Jayson Tatum. Champion. That’s what I said.
Scott Zolak:
It’s his David Price moment, but he’s not like Price. But Price was a jerk about it. You know, I hold all the cards now, like Tatum’s a good guy. I think he’s answered all the questions and you listened to all his press conferences after games throughout all the playoff series and he’s been the consummate pro. And for you to go out and not be all-world, how good is this team really? Like if they if they were all at the top of their game, how many games would they lose? Like they don’t lose many games. This team is that damn good.
