Another former Patriot is heading to Detroit.
Defensive tackle Danny Shelton has agreed to a two-year deal with the Lions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
After a down year in 2018, Shelton didn’t sign as a free agent until May 20. This year, he signs during the tampering period, which reflects the kind of jump he made in his second season with the Patriots.
Shelton joins a wave of Patriots who have migrated to the windy city in recent years. Jamie Collins was announced as a Lions signee earlier this week. Last year, the team added Trey Flowers and Danny Amendola.
The run on former Patriots has been brought on my third-year head coach Matt Patricia, who was previously the defensive coordinator in New England. Unlike the other players who have migrated his way, he never worked with Shelton. Patricia left the Patriots after the 2017 season, Shelton first signed in 2018.
