Aaron Rodgers could join Fred’s beloved New York Jets, according to a report by Dianna Russini of ESPN.

On Thursday’s Toucher & Rich program, Fred and Rich break down the possibility of Rodgers leaving Green Bay.

  • Fred: If you’re just joining us, Dianna Russini is reporting that the Jets are confident they’ll get Aaron Rodgers. The theoretical trade, according to an article in The Athletic, would be Aaron Rodgers, a fifth-round pick and a seventh-round pick to the Jets. The Packers would get a second-round pick, a fourth-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick, and a conditional 2025 third-round pick.

Rich: Why wouldn’t you do that? I mean, that just seems too easy for the Jets. And the Packers would eat a lot of that money.

  • Fred: The theory is that Woody Johnson would rather pay Rodgers than give up a first-round pick. So, the Jets would accept a bit more of the salary responsibility. I don’t know how things work, so I don’t talk about this stuff. I don’t know if the Jets must move the money before or after a potential trade.

Rich: Well, they cleared up some cap space. Five million dollars, I think.

Fred: They don’t have a ton of cap room. I know that.

  • Rich: You’ve said it before, but Woody Johnson will find a way to make this work.

Fred: They’ll find a way to make it work. I just don’t know if you can make the trade before some specific stupid date.

Rich: You can agree to things in principle. Sure. Then you can make it official when the league year starts.
