This Massachusetts Destination Is A Unique Spring Vacation Spot
Yes, we are in the middle of winter, but we’re looking forward to the spring season. The Daily Passport recently named some of the most underrated spring vacation destinations, and a Massachusetts area made the list.
“Instead of following that well-beaten path, why not head to one of the more underrated places in the U.S. to usher in the season,” Daily Passport states, encouraging readers to entertain unique options. The five places they name cover all corners of the country. However, the first recommendation is right here in New England.
Nantucket Is A Great Place To Visit In The Spring
You won’t find all of the summer season spots open (or the tourist crowds) in the spring. But the truth is, there really isn’t a bad time to visit Nantucket. In the off-season, it’s a great place to enjoy some serenity. Sure, you can’t fully enjoy the beach, boating, and hot weather activities, but you can still take in the charm. Furthermore, in the spring, you get a taste of the outdoor adventure life without the heavy flow of people everywhere.
Daily Passport specifically calls out the Daffodil Festival as a can’t-miss spring event. This takes place April 25 – 28. “The island’s landscapes are blanketed with over 3 million bright yellow blooming daffodils for the festive event, which takes place over four days,” they said.
In addition, Nantucket is home to Cisco Brewery, which is one of the most popular local brews in Massachusetts and is fun to visit in the spring. They are open early Thursdays through Sundays. They offer public tours upon request and often have live events and music onsite.
Then from May 15 – 19, the Nantucket Food and Wine Festival takes place. “The festival now draws over 3000 attendees to the island for this annual spring fête and boasts a continually growing family of vintners, wineries, renowned chefs and restaurants,” they explain. Tickets are already on sale.
