Massachusetts: A Wave Of Comedy Coming To Cape Cod
The summer in Cape Cod is synonymous with a lot things. While beaches, vacations, and seafood always top the list, it’s safe to say we can now add comedy shows as well. That’s because the Cape Cod Melody Tent is starting to fill out their event dates and so far, a lot of great comedians will be coming to town this year.
This Hyannis venue, along with its sister location, the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, has been known to host high-profile and legendary acts, including Bonnie Raitt, the Beach Boys, and the Gin Blossoms, as well as a few American Idol winners. But lately, it appears that they are hoping to draw the summer crowds who are looking for laughs.
The Melody Tent has seating in the round and a capacity of roughly 2,300 people. This is attractive to stand-up comedians because it offers a unique, intimate venue space on the edge of a major market. Furthermore, booking big-name comedians requires minimal production costs.
“Our theatres have emerged as popular destinations for patrons and performers alike, providing a relaxed ambiance and intimate theatre experience where every seat is within 50 feet of the stage,” they explain.
Here Are The Comedy Acts Booked For The Cape Cod Melody Tent
- Nikki Glaser on The Good Girl Tour, July 12
- Brian Glowacki, July 21
- Bob Marley, August 3 (2 shows)
It’s worth noting that the Melody Tent adds many dates to its event calendar as the summer months approach.
As of now, the first show of the season will be country singer Brantley Gilbert on June 2. In addition, there are a few other acts already scheduled that will also provide a lot of laughs. Yachtly Crew on July 28 is one of them.
On the first day of summer, what better way to kick off the season than to sing along to Taylor Swift. “Let’s Sing Taylor,” the ultimate tribute to the music of Taylor Swift, will take over the Melody Tent at 8 pm.
