The Celtics haters are real
The Celtics held off the short-handed Cavs 109-102 to lead the series 3-1 as the green look to close it out in Boston on Wednesday night. The performance wasn’t perfect, despite making just six field goals in the 4th quarter and fourteen turnovers in the game. They also gave up a double digit lead cut down to five with under five minutes to go. The Celtics closed it out winning back to back road playoff games.
Boston had not been in a clutch game since April 5 against Sacramento, until last night. Jayson Tatum led the way with 33 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists. Including the pass to Jaylen Brown who hit a late three to put the game away. Brown finished with 27 points and 8 rebounds as the Celtics were led by their all stars. The Celtics are now 18-7 in their last 25 road playoff games and are one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals for the 6th time in 8 years.
You would think some would be happy that they are one win away from closing out the series and that the top two players on the team are leading the way. Check out a few of the responses on social media.
Feel free free to read my timeline and responses saying anything positive about the Celtics. I’m on record saying the Celtics can make an NBA Finals with Tatum & Brown, but they need secondary scoring to win and can’t do it alone. The Celtics got that last night in Jrue Holiday who has played well in back to back games. They also received 11 points off the bench from Payton Pritchard who chipped in with both Derrick White and Al Horford struggling to find their shot.
The Celtics look to close things out in five games as Cleveland could be without Donovan Mitchell once again. The rest of the NBA playoffs is a best of three and the Celtics could use the rest closing this out.
