New England States Rank Among The Most Hungover
Well, New Year’s Eve and the holidays are behind us, but that doesn’t mean the partying has stopped. Nor has the waking up and feeling the aftermath of bad decisions. BetKentucky recently detailed the states in the country where people are most likely to feel hungover and two New England states are atop the list.
In order to determine which states have the most people waking up with that “what happened last night?” feeling. BetKentucky dove deep into five specific categories. They analyzed Google Trends on hangover remedies, number of bars, alcohol consumption by gallons, percentage of the population who admitted to binge drinking, number of breweries and liquor stores/wineries in the state.
Vermont Ranked 4th and New Hampshire Ranked 5th Most Hungover States
These two states comfortably lay snuggled right next to each other geographically. Apparently they can also comfort each other in nursing hangovers.
On Vermont, BetKentucky states, “as the state boasting the most breweries, wineries, and distilleries and ranking second for overall alcohol consumption, it makes sense to see it score so highly in our research.”
Furthermore, Vermont has its own Brewery Association. Zero Gravity and Long Trail Brewery remain among the most popular.
As for New Hampshire, Bet Kentucky says, “The Granite State did rank highest for alcohol consumption.” What worked against New Hampshire, and why it did not rank even higher, was that the state ranked the lowest in terms of the number of bars. Like Vermont, however, New Hampshire is loaded with breweries. In fact, there are over 90 of them in the state. Unlike Vermont, New Hampshire also has more populated metro areas like Portsmouth and Nashua. In addition, Hampton Beach is full of nightlife, especially in the summer and fall months.
If you are curious about how the other New England states fared in terms of your likelihood of waking up hungover, Maine was next, ranking #12. Rhode Island was #16, and Massachusetts hit #30. Connecticut was the lowest-ranked hangover in New England state, finishing at #43.
3 New England Restaurants Ranked For Having Best Breakfast Sandwiches
As a father of four, my mornings are always a bit hectic. I enjoy being an early bird; however, I rarely have the time to prep a good breakfast. Therefore, I was quite thrilled to see that Tasting Table recognized three New England restaurants for having the best breakfast sandwiches in the country. I’m always looking for a good quick breakfast.
A morning in my world usually consists of a sunrise workout, followed by a scramble to get myself and the kids out of the house. Then I embark on an hour-long drive to the office. On the weekends, it’s taking one of my kids to their sports game. Let’s focus on the latter for a moment.
While I am more lenient on my breakfast choice (a banana or shake will do), I insist upon a healthy start for the little guys. Driving them all around New England on weekends requires a few drive-thru meals that you eat in the car. My preference is for the kids to have something substantial, with a protein they enjoy. A breakfast sandwich is often the choice.
The perfect breakfast sandwich should follow three simple rules. It’s quick, both to order and make. It’s fresh (not a microwaved egg slab pulled out of plastic). Finally, it’s a balanced hand-held item that is not too heavy, processed or sugar-filled.
When trekking through interstates and unfamiliar towns at sunrise, it’s easy to settle upon the quickest Dunkin’ Donuts. Now, there are some other options that you (and I) should know about. These three New England restaurants ranking among the best breakfast sandwiches in the country.
Before we get into the list, it is necessary to give one other shout-out. The Portland, Oregon establishment named by Tasting Table has both the best restaurant and sandwich name. The “Yolko Ono” by Fried Egg I’m In Love.
