As the 2023 regular season winds down, the status of New England Patriots left tackle Trent Brown remains an interesting storyline. Brown missed practice for two days last week due to an injury, but was removed from the injury report on Friday. Despite that, he was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game.
To start Week 18 Brown is back on the injury report with an illness. He’s one of two Patriots players that didn’t practice, along with cornerback Myles Bryant, who is also dealing with an illness.

Brown’s absence came as a bit of a surprise given that Wednesday morning, Bill Belichick told reporters he expected Brown to be at practice. “Yeah, I don’t think he’s on the injury report,” Belichick replied when asked about Brown.
In addition to Brown and Bryant, the Patriots had 10 players limited on Wednesday. That includes two new additions from last week’s report – tight end Pharaoh Brown (ribs) and linebacker Jahlani Tavai (tooth).
