Sports teams live and die by their win/lose record, but who is the most popular online? Casino Reviews recently analyzed search data for the 153 professional sports franchises in America. This included the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS. Their results showed that the Boston Celtics are the most searched franchise in the New England market. In addition, the Celtics ranked in the top 15 of all American pro sports teams.
2023 has been quite a memorable and busy off-season for the Celtics. First, they traded Marcus Smart to get Kristaps Porziņģis in June. Then, all-star Jaylen Brown was signed to a monster five-year contract in July. Most recently, guard Jrue Holiday was acquired, making this one of the more anticipated teams in recent history.
The Celtics tip-off the season on October 25 in New York against the Knicks. Although this past year has been in one of much hype, this franchise has well-established, deep history. From their classic uniforms to their 17 championships, the C's are one of the more recognizable NBA brands in the world.
In Massachusetts, The Celtics Are The Top Searched Sports Team
According to Casino Reviews' report, the Celtics beat out the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins as the most searched professional sports franchise in Massachusetts. The Patriots finished second. The Bruins ranked third, with the Red Sox claiming fourth. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers round out the top five most searched in the state. Is there any wonder why?
National Recognition
Outside of the region, the Celtics also rank highly in terms of the most searched American pro teams, combining all five of the aforementioned leagues. The Celtics rank 13th on this list (out of 153). The top nod goes to the Dallas Cowboys. However, only the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors rank higher than the Celtics on this overall list. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that the NFL was the most popular sport in 26 of the 50 states, according to Casino Reviews' findings.
If the 2023-24 season meets expectations, it will come as no surprise if the Celtics hold on to the most searched team title once again next year.
