Jaylen Brown ties it late, takes over in overtime as Celtics top Lakers
The Boston Celtics came back from a late deficit to tie the Los Angeles Lakers, then stormed ahead in overtime to win by a 125-121 final at TD Garden on Saturday night.
Jaylen Brown redeemed himself in this one, bouncing back from a rough finish on Thursday night against the Knicks to come through in the clutch against the Lakers. After the Lakers went up 95-88 with 6:26 left in the fourth, the Celtics closed regulation on a 17-10 run, including a driving layup and game-tying free throw by Brown with four seconds left.
The officials appeared to miss a foul on Jayson Tatum against LeBron James on the Lakers’ final possession, which drove James ballistic on the court. That, however, set the stage for overtime. Brown made the most of it, scoring 11 of his 37 points in OT, with Tatum finishing off the win by making his late free throws.
