The Patriots’ Wild Card playoff opponent and timeslot are set
Patriots-Bills. Round 3.
With the Raiders beating the Chargers on Sunday Night Football, the Patriots fell to the sixth seed in the AFC. That sends them back to Buffalo for their third meeting of the year with the third-seeded Bills. The ‘threematch’ between the Patriots and Bills will be the late game in the Saturday window of Wild Card Weekend, kicking off at 8:15 p.m.
The Patriots won the first meeting between the two teams this year in a 14-10 game at a wind swept Highmark Stadium. Three weeks later, the Bills came to Gillette and pulled off a 33-21 win that ended up shifting them back to the top of the AFC East.
Once again, the forecast could favor the Patriots. Saturday night’s conditions currently call for 1-3 inches of snow. The wind should be a little more tame, expected to be 10-15 miles per hour.
This will be just the second time the Patriots and Bills meet in the playoffs. They also met in Buffalo in the 1963 AFL Eastern Division playoff. The Patriots won that game 26-8 behind four field goals from Gino Cappelletti. That game was also played in snowy conditions.
Coverage of the game can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub and the Patriots Radio Network. Patriots Preview begins at 5 p.m. and can be heard on the Sports Hub app.
