Celtics drop latest to Lakers by 15-point margin on the road
The Boston Celtics fell to 13-12 on the season and 7-8 in road games after a 117-102 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook led the way for L.A. on the scoreboard with 30 and 24 points, respectively.
James shot 13-for-19 from the field and 2-for-5 from three-point range in the win, while Westbrook also dished out 11 assists. Anthony Davis was relatively de-emphasized offensively, with his first sub-20-point game since Nov. 17. But Davis still scored 17 on 7-for-13 from the field and dominated on the glass, pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds.
The Celtics were again without Jaylen Brown, who has now missed three games in a row with a nagging hamstring injury. Jayson Tatum carried the Celtics offensively with 34 points on 13-for-22 shooting (59 percent). The Celtics’ other four starters (Marcus Smart, Al Horford, Dennis Schröder, Robert Williams) scored 36 points combined.
Boston has now lost two of its last three games. The West Coast road trip continues on Wednesday with the second night of a back-to-back, this time against the Clippers.
