Friday injury report offers update for Patriots running backs
Despite having four players not practice all week, the Patriots’ Friday injury report did not rule anybody out for Sunday’s game against the Browns. 12 players are listed as questionable, while one is doubtful.
Much of the focus this week has been on the team’s top two running backs in Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson. Both left last week’s game with concussions, and didn’t practice at all this week. They’re both listed as questionable for Sunday, as would be eligible to play as long as they clear concussion protocol by 4 p.m. on Saturday. The same goes for wide receiver and kick returner Gunner Olszewski, who also suffered a concussion against Carolina and didn’t practice this week.
Linebacker Jamie Collins (ankle) was the fourth player held out of practice all week. He is listed as doubtful.
All nine players who were limited throughout the week are listed as questionable. They are wide receiver N’Keal Harry (knee), tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder), guard Shaq Mason (abdomen), linebackers Dont’a Hightower (ankle), Kyle Van Noy (groin) and Ja’Whaun Bentley (ribs), defensive back Jalen Mills (thigh) ,kicker Nick Folk (left knee) and punter Jake Bailey (right knee).
Meanwhile, Cleveland cleared out nearly their whole injury report. Eight of the 10 players listed this week were removed including defensive lineman Myles Garrett (foot), who practiced for the first time all week on Friday, quarterback Baker Mayfield (left shoulder, foot), receiver Jarvis Landry (knee), and center JC Tretter (knee).
Only two players are listed on the final report for the Browns. Defensive end Takkarist McKinnley (groin) has been ruled out while cornerback Greedy Williams (shoulder) is questionable. In addition, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed running backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton won’t be activated off of COVID-IR for the game.
