Patriots rule one player out for Sunday, 14 questionable
The Patriots will be without Brandon King on Sunday when they face the Los Angeles Chargers. King was ruled out on Friday’s injury report, while 14 players are listed as ‘questionable.’
Without King, the Patriots are now down two core special teams players after Harvey Langi was placed on IR earlier this week. In their matchup last year the Patriots had a clear upper hand in the kicking game with a blocked field goal and punt return touchdown – they’ll be shorthanded as they look to replicate that performance this time around.
Of the 14 players who are questionable, seven were Cali bound.

That’s an encouraging sign for those seven players to play on Sunday, but it certainly doesn’t rule out the remaining seven. They are wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (shoulder), defensive linemen Deatrich Wise (knee) and Carl Davis (hand), linebacker Josh Uche (shoulder), cornerback Shaun Wade (concussion), safety Kyle Dugger (neck), and kicker Nick Folk (left knee).
All 15 players practiced on Friday in a limited capacity. The Patriots didn’t have a player miss practice all week for the first time since Week 1.
Meanwhile, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is questionable with a hip injury. Ekeler wasn’t listed on the injury report on Wednesday, but then missed practice Thursday and Friday. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley told reporters on Friday that Ekeler was ‘sore’ after Wednesday’s practice, and the team is ‘hopeful’ he can play on Sunday. Linebacker Drue Tranquill is also listed as questionable.
