New England Patriots

It may feel like we’re in the dog days of summer with the current heat wave, but football season is right around the corner. In fact, the Patriots will return to the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium in less than a month.

On Wednesday, the Patriots announced the dates for the first four training camp practices, as well as two in-stadium practices. The team also confirmed fans will be able to attend the practices – a tradition that was put on hold last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Patriots first practice of training camp will take place Wednesday, July 28 with sessions on the 29th-31st also confirmed. No times were given, but in the past the practices have started late in the morning. More dates are expected to be made available as they are scheduled. These practices are free to attend.

In the past, the team had held an annual in-stadium practice for season ticket holders and Foxborough residents. This year, there will be two practices taking place inside Gillette Stadium, one for the groups mentioned above on Friday, Aug. 6 and another for the general public on Tuesday, Aug. 10. That will likely be the team’s final training camp practice before their preseason opener, which is set for Aug. 12 at home against the Washington Football Team.

Unlike past years, players will be unavailable for photos and/or autographs after practice. Fans themselves will face minimal restrictions, with the Patriots release saying “training camp will be conducted in compliance with all state and local regulations and the NFL/NFLPA COVID-19 protocols. While face coverings are optional, unvaccinated guests are encouraged to wear them while attending practice sessions.”
