While it’s no secret the Patriots’ roster will have some overhaul this offseason, the coaching staff and front office could see a shakeup as well. The season hadn’t been over for even an hour when the first report came in about a team requesting an interview with a Patriots’ staffer.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Carolina Panthers have requested to interview Nick Caserio for their open general manager job. Caserio is currently the Patriots’ director of player personnel.

A part of Bill Belichick’s staff since 2001, Caserio has held a number of different roles in New England including wide receiver coach, area scout, and personnel assistant. He’s held the director of player personnel title twice – first from 2004-2006, and his current tenure which began in 2008.

This isn’t the first time Caserio has drawn interest outside of New England. Last year, the Patriots filed tampering charges against the Houston Texans for their pursuit of the 45-year-old.

Following Schefter’s report, ESPN’s David Newton added the Panthers’ other candidates include Jeff Ireland of the Saints, Adam Peters of the 49ers, and former Giants’ GM Jerry Reese.

Caserio is just one of the many members of Bill Belichick’s staff who are expected to receive external interest this offseason. Others include offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and linebackers coach Jerod Mayo. Last month, quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch was hired as the head coach at the University of Arizona.
