After being waived on Wednesday, Jack Cichy is back with the Patriots. The 24-year-old linebacker agreed to a practice squad contract on Friday, per LB Jack Cichy, who was waived by the Patriots on Wednesday one week after being claimed from the Buccaneers, has agreed to sign with New England's practice squad today.
A sixth-round pick in 2018, Cichy spent his first two-plus seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He missed 22 games over his first two seasons due to injury, but proved to be a valuable special teams player when on the field.
He was waived by Tampa at the beginning of the month, and awarded to the Patriots last Wednesday. After spending his first week as a roster exception away from the team while going through COVID protocol, he was waived this Wednesday. Now, he’s back with the practice squad two days later.
Cichy joins Cassh Maluia as linebackers on the practice squad. Like Cichy, Maluia also projects as a regular special teams contributor.
