We’ve known for a few days now that Celtics regular season basketball was less than a month away, but now the opener has an official date – and opponent.

Shams Charania of The Athletic shared highlights from the beginning of the NBA schedule, including the Celtics’ opener. While the NBA regular season will begin on December 22, Boston will tip-off the following night at home, against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last season, the Celtics and Bucks met three times. Milwaukee won the series 2-1, but all three were decided by one or two points. The two teams were lined up to meet in the playoffs over the summer, but the Bucks were upset in the second round by the surprise Miami Heat.

Between the home-opener against Milwaukee and their Christmas matchup with the Nets, the Celtics will be tested early. Their first two opponents boast arguably the most star power in the Eastern Conference, with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving all coming to Boston to start the season.

The Celtics opened training camp on Tuesday, and will begin their preseason schedule on December 15 on the road in Philadelphia.
