Felger & Mazz

Are the expectations so low on the Boston Red Sox this season that the team may actually be quite…decent? Mazz thinks that could be the case for the Red Sox in 2023.

  • The Red Sox might be decent

    Felger: Emailer says:

Emailer (Mazz?): On the Sox. Guess who the only unbeaten team in spring training is right now? Do any of you think that they could actually be better than we expect? Believe it or not….I actually do. Though it may not be for the right reasons. I think expectations are so low that they could be half decent in terms of competitiveness. Also, I think their pitching staff will be much improved and I think they will be in a lot of games because of it. Signed Anthony in the Metro West. Hugs and kisses. Love your show.

    Felger: Your thoughts, Anthony?

Mazz: Yeah, I wrote it. They’re still the only unbeaten team in spring training. And by the way, I obviously don’t connect that to what will happen during the regular season, but I do believe expectations are so freaking low that I think there is a chance if they don’t completely suck, that we’ll go, “oh, they actually might be better than we thought”. I think that there is a real chance that that’s going to happen. And if you look at the Red Sox in recent years, I think that typically this is how it has worked…when you expect them to be good, they suck. When you expect them to suck, they actually surprise you and they’re half decent.
