In case you didn’t know, Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak is pretty good at hockey.
And the accolades recognizing him as such continued on into the new month, as the league announced that Pastrnak was their third star for the month of February behind the Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl and New York’s Mika Zibanejad.
Like he has from the jump this year, Pastrnak once again paced the Bruins in production in February, finishing with 10 goals and nine helpers for 19 points in a 14-game month that saw the B’s stay atop the NHL by way of an 11-3-0 record. Among the noteworthy efforts in Pastrnak’s February? A hat trick against Montreal on Boston ice back on Feb. 12, an overtime winner against the Oilers on Feb. 19, and multi-point efforts in seven of the team’s 14 games over that stretch.
The month also came with a B’s milestone for the 23-year-old Pastrnak, as he hit the 40-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career, and in doing so became the first Boston skater to score 40 goals in a season since Glen Murray in 2002-03.
With 47 goals on the year, a healthy March will likely see Pastrnak, who is the league’s top goal scorer this season, become the first Bruin to hit the 50-goal mark since Cam Neely scored 50 in 49 games during the 1993-94 season.
