Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller (lower body) unlikely to be ready for start of playoff series vs. Maple Leafs
From the NHL Newswire at 985TheSportsHub.com.
The Bruins will have to start the playoffs without a key piece of their defense.
GM Don Sweeney revealed to reporters on Monday that defenseman Kevan Miller is unlikely to be ready for the start of their opening round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sweeney described Miller’s injury setback as “additional swelling”.
After playing just 9:44 of ice time last Thursday against the Minnesota Wild, Miller sat out Saturday’s regular season finale against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a lower body injury. The veteran defenseman missed 43 games due to various injuries in 2018-19.
Miller most notably missed games with hand, larynx, and upper body injuries. The LBI is simply the latest setback in a trying year for the blue liner.
The Bruins are still expected to have Zdeno Chara, Charlie McAvoy, Torey Krug, Brandon Carlo, and Matt Grzelcyk healthy for the start of their series against the Maple Leafs. Here’s what we think the lineup will look like (minus Miller, of course) when the teams square off in Game 1 on Thursday. Click here for the full series schedule.
