With the NFL Draft over with, the next step on the NFL calendar is spring practices. Yet at the same time, the Patriots are already preparing for training camp.

On Tuesday evening, Chad Graff of The Athletic reported that the Patriots are ‘finalizing plans’ to hold joint practices in Green Bay this summer with the Packers. It will be the first time the Patriots and Packers hold joint practices together, either in Green Bay or Foxborough.

  • The Packers, like the Patriots, are entering a pivotal season. Following the departure of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, the Packers are looking to see if they have their next quarterback up in 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.

In his tweet, Graff noted the joint practices with the Patriots are “expected to be one of two joint practices the Patriots do on the road this summer.” It’s likely the other could be with the Tennessee Titans, based on a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss last month.

Based on the NFL’s new rotating schedule, the Patriots will have one home and two road preseason games this summer. Based on the way games and joint practices are usually scheduled, expect the first game to be the home game, followed by the two road games with the two joint practice teams.
