Patriots heading back to Europe for game in 2024
After playing a game in Germany last year, the New England Patriots are heading to London for a game in 2024. The Patriots London game will see them face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
One of the first official announcements about the 2024 NFL schedule was the five international games the league will play this year. That slate was released Wednesday morning, and includes the New England Patriots.
The Patriots’ international game will be at Wembley Stadium in London. It comes right in the middle of the schedule – Week 7 (October 20) against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This will count as a ‘road’ game for the Patriots.
Like all NFL games in Europe this one will have an early start time. It’s scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff and will be carried by NFL Network.
This will be the first meeting between the Patriots and Jaguars since late in the 2021 season. The Patriots – led by quarterback Mac Jones – won that game 50-10. Jones is now on the other side, having been traded to Jacksonville for a sixth-round pick this offseason.
Traditionally teams will get their bye week after international games. However some have gone away from that trend in recent years, so the Patriots’ bye week remains to be determined.
Last year the Patriots did have their bye week after their international game. That one was in Germany in Week 10 – a 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
That was the Patriots’ first ever loss in the NFL’s International Series. They started 3-0 with two wins at Wembley Stadium in 2009 (vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and 2012 (vs the St. Louis Rams). They also played a game in Mexico City in 2017 (vs the then-Oakland Raiders) and won that one as well.
This will be the Patriots’ fifth international game in franchise history. That ties them with the Raiders for the third-most by an organization since the NFL began playing internationally annually in 2007. Only the Jaguars (13) and Dolphins (6) have more.
