At least one notable receiver seems ready to hit the open market

One of the top free-agent wide receivers in football may be on his way out of the AFC East.
While it’s still possible that some of the biggest names come off the market – Tee Higgins may end up getting the franchise tag – at least one sounds like he’s in fact going to test unrestricted free agency: Bills wideout Gabe Davis.

The 24-year-old Davis posted a lengthy tribute video to his time in Buffalo on Tuesday, a clear indication that it’s possible he dons another uniform in 2024. The video does start with Davis saying he’s “always open to coming back,” but it sure sounds like he’s ready to go to the highest bidder.

Davis would be hitting the open market as one of the best options available. Assuming Higgins is franchised, the top free-agent receivers still include Mike Evans, Michael Pittman Jr., and Calvin Ridley.
As an established big play threat in age of big plays in the passing game, Davis will most certainly have a strong market of suitors among teams seeking wide receiver help. It’s notable for the Patriots that he may be heading out of the AFC East – or possibly open to signing with New England, if they’re making a competitive-enough offer.

Ranking the top-10 free-agent wide receivers of 2024
Free-agent wide receivers are about to have a great year.
Starting off as one of the strongest receiver markets we’ve seen in years, the pool has shallowed a bit at the position, with arguably the top-2 names – Mike Evans and Tee Higgins – getting a new two-year deal and a franchise tag, respectively. But there are still some talented guys expected to cash in with receiver-needy teams.

So, read below for our top-10 remaining free-agent wideouts. It’s still a list worth knowing…
1. Michael Pittman Jr.

Pittman is more of an inside receiver than outside, but he’s better than that. His size and athleticism makes him more dangerous than your typical slot guy. Pittman racked up a career-best 109 catches and 1,152 yards in 2023, as he continued to be one of the league’s better separators with his route-running and footwork.
A reliable option over the middle of the field for any quarterback, Pittman would be an elite safety net with high-end production for whoever signs him.
