Jake DeBrusk is The Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week
There’s been no shortage of heroes for the Bruins on their recent four-game win streak.
Saturday’s 9-4 beatdown of the rival Canadiens was just the latest example, too, as the Bruins had a staggering 16 skaters hit the scoresheet with either a goal or an assist by the night’s end. But when it comes to this latest stretch, there’s no denying the impact that winger Jake DeBrusk has made at both ends of the rink for the Black and Gold.
Beginning with Boston’s 5-2 victory over the white-hot Avalanche on Thursday night, DeBrusk found the back of the net with a beautiful deflection of a Parker Wotherspoon shot for his 10th goal of the campaign.
But DeBrusk wasn’t done. With the Bruins looking for a putaway strike against the Avs, DeBrusk carried the puck with two Colorado skaters bearing down on him and zipped a beautiful pass to David Pastrnak for the goal that made it 4-2 and by all means put the Avalanche’s comeback hopes to bed in what was arguably Boston’s most complete victory of the season.
Saturday’s beatdown of the Canadiens, meanwhile, came with another one-goal and two-point outing for DeBrusk, and with a classic DeBrusk bounce for his 11th goal of the year and a sensational cross-slot dish to Pavel Zacha for what was Zacha’s 100th career goal and one of several exclamation points put on the board in a third-period domination by the B’s.
In addition to the two goals and four points in two games, DeBrusk also chipped from a physicality standpoint with two hits and three blocked shots, and was credited with a team-high four takeaways over that two-game sample.
