FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (July 10, 2023) – The New England Revolution acquired Argentinian forward Tomás Chancalay on loan from Racing Club for the remainder of the 2023 season, with options to purchase or extend the loan through June 2024, pending receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
The Revolution’s second inbound signing of the MLS summer transfer window sees the 24-year-old winger, who most recently played with Emirati club Al-Wasl while on loan from Racing Club, join a New England offense that ranks among the top-five MLS clubs in goals scored this season. Chancalay, a native of Viale, Argentina, arrives in New England with 35 career goals and 20 assists across more than 185 senior appearances, including 91 games played in the Argentine Primera División. He began his professional career with Colón de Santa Fe in 2017, totaling 80 appearances with CA Colón before moving to Racing Club on loan in February 2021, followed by a permanent transfer in December of that year.
With Racing Club, Chancalay appeared in 80 games and scored 17 goals with nine assists in all competitions. He ranked among the leading scorers in the 2021 Copa Libertadores, tallying five goals in six appearances, including a hat trick in the group stage.
