After Xander Bogaerts was out of the Red Sox’ lineup for a few days, Alex Cora gave an update on his shortstop’s health heading into Opening Day.
As reported by Alex Speier, Cora mentioned that the team is “taking care of” Bogaerts amid the “general soreness” that comes with the start of the season.
“His feet, his hands — it always happens in spring training,” said Cora (via the Boston Globe). “He’ll be ready for [Opening Day].”
Cora also noted that Bogaerts will play the final two spring training games before Opening Day on Thursday. The shortstop returned to the Red Sox lineup in Monday’s spring training game against the Minnesota Twins, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
