San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch had an emphatic answer when asked how he feels about Jimmy Garoppolo as the team’s starting quarterback.

Speaking on the podcast The Eye Test For Two, Lynch quickly responded to a question of whether he had any doubt that Garoppolo would be starting for San Fran at the start of the 2021 season. Assuming Jimmy G is injury-free, of course.

“No,” said Lynch. “Not at all. I really believe that.”

Garoppolo has repeatedly popped up in trade rumors during the 2021 NFL offseason. He’s a popular candidate to be moved to the Patriots, or sign with them if he ends up released. But after the latest reports – and now, the actual comments from John Lynch – are sliding back toward the Niners keeping Garoppolo as their quarterback.

San Fran would reportedly have to land a significant upgrade at the position – Deshaun Watson, for instance – in order to move on from Garoppolo. So it’s becoming more and more likely that Bill Belichick will have to look elsewhere for the Patriots’ starting quarterback in 2021.
