Patriots have new-look receiver and tight end groups active vs Texans
By Matt Dolloff, 985TheSportsHub.com
The Patriots will have one of their newest additions at wide receiver in their active lineup vs the Texans, while another will have to wait.
Veteran Donte Moncrief is active on Sunday in Houston, marking his Pats debut after being elevated to the main roster on Saturday. However, trade deadline acquisition Isaiah Ford is inactive after playing no offensive snaps last Sunday against the Ravens. Here’s the wide receiver depth chart, based on last week’s overall workloads:
Jakobi Meyers
Damiere Byrd
N’Keal Harry
Gunner Olszewski
Donte Moncrief
At tight end there is also a deeper depth chart – that is, deeper than just one. Recent waiver addition Jordan Thomas is active along with Ryan Izzo. Rookies Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene remain on injured reserve.
One notable name on the inactives list is running back Sony Michel, who was activated off IR this week and traveled with the team to Houston. The Patriots are choosing to remain patient as far as getting Michel back into the lineup and will likely lean heavily on Damien Harris in the ground game. Rex Burkhead has also been productive as an all-purpose back in recent weeks.
