Former Bruins forward Noel Acciari is headed to the Florida Panthers for the next three seasons after cashing in as an unrestricted free agent. But not before he bids a proper farewell to the city and organization that launched his NHL career.
“I am so fortunate to have called Boston my home for the last four years. From the moment I entered the locker room I felt the brotherhood. These teammates became my family,” Acciari said in a new Instagram post on Monday. “Thank you to the organization for believing in a young kid with a dream of playing in the NHL. And to the Boston fans, thank you for supporting me during my time as a Bruin.
“The memories in this city will last a lifetime. … My family and I are so excited for the next chapter in life as a Florida Panther!”
Acciari first signed with the Bruins in June 2015, shortly after helping lead the Providence Friars to their first NCAA hockey championship. He played 180 games in four seasons as a key bottom-six forward for the Bruins, including 35 playoff games in the past three seasons.
The Panthers signed Acciari on Monday, shortly after the start of NHL free agency, to a three-year deal worth $5 million ($1.67 million AAV). He should bring the same brand of energy and physicality that made him a mainstay on the Bruins’ fourth line in recent years.
