Hardy: The ‘Sports Hub Golf Club’ Enters Its Sixth Season
Before the Sports Hub even launched, I asked if I could do a golf show. The answer was simple; “no.” Golf shows didn’t work, and I should just focus on babysitting Zolak during the week and a straight-up sports talk show on the weekend.
A couple years later, I brought it up again and got a different answer; “ok, fine.” The station was doing well enough to survive an hour of golf talk at 6am on Saturday mornings, and I was given the green light to begin on Masters weekend, 2013.
Now, as the 6th season of the Sports Hub Golf Club is set to launch, we’ve done more than just not ruin the station. And, for the record, with a lot of support from the bosses. The show has grown from a 1 man operation of booking guests, producing and editing segments and hosting the show to… well, that’s all still true. But now I’m also responsible for producing video elements and creating a bigger online presence.
To help in that regard, we’ll be posting each week’s show on the station’s new podcast platform available both on the website and our new app. We’ve even got a brand spankin’ new logo courtesy of Jake and Ken from Permanent Inc.
Starting March 31st At A New Time
The big news is that the show is starting a week early this year (and at a new time; 7am!) with a Masters preview. I’ll be joined by PGA tour player Brendan Steele, a well rounded guy as comfortable talking about alternative rock and hockey as he is talking golf. He’s coming off a good showing at the WGC Match Play last weekend and will join us before he heads to Augusta.
We’ll also hear from Brockton firefighter Matt Parziale, 2017 Massachusetts Amateur and 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur Champion. He’s already on Magnolia Lane, getting the full treatment ahead of his Masters debut and is without a doubt the local fan-favorite heading into next week’s tourney.
Add in your chance to win some new Calloway Chrome Soft golf balls, and we’ve got a pretty solid start to the new season. Thanks in advance for listening, and here’s to hoping the Nor’easters are gone for good this year.
