Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla joined Zolak & Bertrand for his regular weekly interview. He was asked about Adam Himmelsbach’s article in The Boston Globe in which players voiced support for their former head coach Ime Udoka, Mazzulla discussed whether or not he feels like he’s in an awkward spot with the players coming out in favor of their former bench boss.

I think you have to focus on the truth. The truth of the matter is those guys have a high respect level for Ime. He was a great coach when he was here for the Celtics, brought us to the finals and earned those guys’ trust and, they should feel that way.

“So, no, I don’t think it’s a tough spot at all. I think it’s the truth. And I think you have to focus on what your strengths are and focus on how we can, you know, work together to become a better team.”

  • “As an organization, we’ve got to create an environment where people express how they feel and we work together to to give them space and time to feel that. And then, how can we move forward together?”
