Zolak and Bertrand react to the scary scene that unfolded on Monday night in Cincinnati during the Bills-Bengals matchup on Monday Night Football, in which Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest following a collision with Bengals WR Tee Higgins
Bertrand: Was this a night that changed the NFL?
“I don’t think we were planning on talking about Monday Night Football out of the gate today, but obviously last night something happened on Monday Night Football that I think in many ways could change the game. It could. It was a major thing that happened last night. And when I say you changed the game, I don’t mean that they’re going to change the way they play or there’s going to be any renewed emphasis on safety in the sport. What I think changes and I think you saw change last night was that they did not continue the game. They stopped playing football. That’s never happened before.”
Zolak: "An unprecedented event"
“I saw Josh [Allen] and I saw [Stefon] Diggs, and I forget who the other defender was. You see him with the hands up and he’s crying. I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, this is bad. This is this is unprecedented. We’ve never seen anything like this.
“I’ve seen guys snap legs. I’ve seen neck injuries. I had a friend in college get paralyzed. You know, you’ve seen spinal cord stuff, but you never saw and you heard, as you know, we heard early in the night that they got his heart beating again on the field like this. This has never happened. There’s nothing to go off of. There’s no no prior prior incident that you could say, okay, this is what the league has to deal with. This is what the league’s going to do and get ready for it this week. There’s going be a lot of juggling of things. There’s going to be the ‘how do you play this game? What do you do?’
“The Patriots play the Bills this week. We were we’re scheduled to go Saturday to play at 1:00 Sunday game. That could all change if they force them to play.

As I embark on my journey to the NFL, I will never forget where I come from and I am committed to using my platform to positively impact the community that raised me. I created The Chasing M's Foundation as a vehicle that will allow me to deliver that impact, and the first program is the 2020 Community Toy Drive.
