The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching, which means it’s time for the “Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant” trade rumors to pop-up again! On Monday’s Felger and Mazz, the guys discuss if they would trade Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant.

  • Would Felger, Mazz, and Murray trade Brown for Durant?

Felger: So, Brown for Durant. You want it? That make you better and give you a better chance to win a championship this year? Does that give you a better chance to win a championship this year, Mazz.

    Mazz: Yes.

    Jim Murray: Yes.

Felger: But if Jaylen Brown is willing to sign and he’s here long term, you still don’t do it?

    Mazz: Correct.

Felger: Okay. I agree with you. I’d prefer facilitating and pushing you, but I would agree because I think that Brown and Jayson Tatum are good enough. I think they’re the best duo in the league. I think they’re the best team in the league right now. They should have won last year. They should win this year. So if Jaylen Brown is happy being Klay Thompson then you keep him. If the Celtics are worried about the money thing, because if Jaylen Brown is just third team All-NBA he qualifies for supermax which is five years to $280 million, right?

    J-Stew: That’s correct. Yes.

Felger: Okay. That’s more expensive than Kevin Durant. So Kevin Durant makes you better in the short term and oddly enough, is a little more affordable. So just keep that in mind. And right now, don’t you think Jaylen Brown’s a lock for third team All-NBA? If he’s an All-Star, that means he’s top, I don’t know if he’s a lock for third team All-NBA but he’s definitely in the running.
