The period between minicamp and training camp is generally the most relaxed on the NFL calendar. However, Mac Jones and a couple of the Patriots’ receivers are taking advantage of the extra time.

On Wednesday afternoon, Nelson Agholor shared a video on his Instagram story that showed him working out with Jones and Tre Nixon. The workout took place in Carlsbad, California.

Nixon’s presence as the session certainly is notable. The 2021 seventh-round pick was one of the standouts during practices this spring. He’ll enter training camp with a good chance to grab one of the final roster spots, especially for a team that could stand to add speed and depth in the slot.

Based on Agholor’s Instagram, it was just him and Nixon on the field with Jones on Wednesday. However, when the Patriots held a similar throwing session in Tampa earlier this offseason, it was a multi-day event that saw more players show up on Day 2. Is this California workout the start of a multi-day event? Or just a one off? It will be worth checking in on players’ social media on Thursday to find out.
