Zolak & Bertrand

Hey, it’s Scott Zolak and it’s time for a “get right” game against the Jets on a short week. It’s not a must win….but it’s a must win coming off the bizarre game on Monday Night Football versus the Bears where you got your butt kicked in all three phases. Here’s my Week 8 preview.

  • Mac Is Back

Everybody’s talking about the quarterbacks. I think it was really good that Bill Belichick came out Thursday and said they were going with Mac Jones as their starting quarterback. You need to figure out if he’s your guy for the future and it starts this Sunday against the New York Jets.

  • Not a Must Win….But It Is

I don’t call it a must win…but it is a must win. This is your first must win game of the season. This is a stretch where you need to take care of business, get your offense up and flying and get Mac some confidence. More importantly, get the team feeling confident, get the coordinators feeling confident. Get back to basics.

  • Get Back To Power Football

The Patriots need to get back to the power game and run the ball. The guards need to play better in this game. David Andrews misses practices this week. Kyle Duggar misses practices, same with Christian Barmore unseen at both big practices. I would expect to see all three of those guys this weekend, which means James Ferentz gets a massive start against Quinnen Williams. He’s got to handle Williams.

  • Pressure on Wide Receivers

With Mac Jones back, still tender off that foot even though he’s cleared to play, he has to get the ball out quick. He’s got to get into the receiver’s hands. I want to see a big game from Tyquan Thornton this weekend. I want to see guys like Devante Parker step up more and especially the tight ends.

  • Go Back To Old Reliables

I’d like to see Matthew Judon and Deatrich Wise start this week. They need to get after Zach Wilson. Wilson’s a guy that will give you one or two turnovers. He gave you three in the first four possessions last year so get to him early in his game.
