The Patriots are 1-2 on the season after an uneven effort against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. Here’s who we graded “UP” or “DOWN” based on their performance in the game…

    UP: WR DeVante Parker

Parker finally showed the big-play ability that we saw in training camp, as Mac Jones connected with him on several explosive catches down the field. Five catches for 156 yards for Parker in this one. Against a banged up Ravens secondary, Parker asserted himself and it was promising to see.

  • DOWN: WR Nelson Agholor

Agholor went from making one of the more clutch plays of the Patriots’ season so far to one of the bigger mistakes. For the second time in three games, Agholor committed a late fumble that was a real back-breaker for the team. Mistakes like that will only amplify the questions people have about Kendrick Bourne’s lack of playing time early on.

  • UP: DE Deatrich Wise

Three sacks for Wise, who is off to the hottest start of his career. It’s getting to the point where we might have to accept that the first-time team captain has taken his game to another level. Granted, the Ravens are banged up on the offensive line, as they were without starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley. But this isn’t an isolated game for Wise. This is now three consecutive strong games.

  • DOWN: S Jabrill Peppers

Peppers started and had an opportunity to make a real impact on the field in the absence of safety Kyle Dugger. Instead, it felt like the Ravens offense picked on him at times. Peppers lost contain against the run on multiple occasions and also got beat on Josh Oliver’s touchdown from Lamar Jackson. Peppers needs to be better if Dugger is going to keep missing time.

  • UP: CB Jonathan Jones

Jones’ forced fumble against the Ravens’ Rashod Batemen can’t go unrecognized. It was a massive play in the game at the time, with the Ravens clinging to a five-point lead and the Patriots getting a golden opportunity to take the lead back. It was for naught, as Mac Jones threw an interception in the end zone on the ensuing drive. But Jones gets a big thumbs-up for the clutch turnover. He also made an interception in this game.

  • DOWN: OT Isaiah Wynn

Two more penalties for Wynn, both of which cost the Patriots some much-needed points. His first penalty, a call for an illegal formation, set back a drive that ended in a punt. His second penalty, a hold, led to the Pats settling for a field goal. Wynn was still able to open the occasional hole in the run game, especially on traditional Patriots gap runs. But it’s been an uneven start for the right tackle.

  • UP: RB Rhamondre Stevenson

Stevenson ran hard when he got the ball, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. He punched one into the end zone as well. It’s been a good start for the Pats’ main two backs, Stevenson and Damien Harris. They’ve both made plays when the blocking allows it. Today was Stevenson’s day.

  • DOWN: CB Myles Bryant

Bryant muffed a punt early, and was lucky to recover the fumble. That’s two straight games with Bryant very nearly turning the ball over early on punt returns. He’s been shaky back there. The sooner that rookie Marcus Jones is ready to take over as the punt returner, the better. Bryant also got beat 1-on-1 on Devin Duvernay’s touchdown in the back corner of the end zone.

Next Patriots Ups & Downs come after the Pats hit the road to take on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
