  • Mac Jones was present at Patriots practice, so that’s good. And he apparently looked OK, too.

Jones’ injury situation has become the most urgent topic in Foxboro, after the Patriots quarterback went for x-rays after the team’s Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Those were negative, and Jones has indicated that he’s fine, so we can safely assume that he will indeed play on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Reporters at Gillette Stadium were able to get a closer look at Jones on the practice field on Wednesday, and a few video clips were captured of the QB making some throws. Here’s who had their phones rolling:

  • I know, I know, videos for ants. But you can full-screen the things and look closely, and you’ll see Jones making some warm-up tosses. Looks like a regular ol’ practice for Jones, and not one that he was physically limited.

We’ll see, though. The Patriots will release their first injury report of Week 2 later on Wednesday, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Jones were listed with a back injury, or if he were a limited participant instead of full.

Here’s what else we learned from media access at Patriots practice…

  • Adrian Phillips Present

The veteran safety had to exit Sunday’s game in Miami early with what the team called a rib injury. But Phillips was present during the open access portion of practice, which was only for a light stretching/warm-up period. So it’s possible that Phillips was limited.

But, as with Mac Jones, we’ll have more clarity on his status when the injury report comes out.

  • Marcus Cannon Returns

The Patriots recently brought back Cannon on their practice squad, after the veteran tackle spent a season with the Houston Texans. He’s wearing his old number 61, too. It wouldn’t be shocking if Cannon were elevated to the main roster sooner rather than later, assuming he has enough left in the proverbial tank.

  • McGrone, Ray Absent

Second-year linebacker Cameron McGrone and rookie defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, both on the practice squad, were not spotted during the open period at Wednesday’s practice. Both are likely far from main roster elevations, anyway. But there’s something to monitor.
